Charleston Pool Owners!
Are you swimming in safe water?
General electricians can't say...WE can.
3 Pillars of Pool Electrical Safety
Every inspection begins with a close look at the three most critical elements of pool electrical safety: Bonding, GFCI Protection, and General Code Compliance. These pillars form the foundation of a safe pool system. Whether we’re inspecting a new installation or an existing setup, these are the first things we check to make sure your pool is built right—and built safe.
Bonding
Bonding helps keep people safe from electricity in the pool area by making everything equal. It's just like how birds don't get shocked when on electrical lines. No difference in voltage = no current flow. Regardless of any other safety measure, if the bond isn't working, you're in danger.
GFCI Protection
GFCI (ground fault circuit interrupt) protection is required by code and a key to swimmer safety. GFCI breakers and outlets are much more sensitive to electrical problems and are designed to keep people safe around water. No pool is safe without the circuits being GFCI protected.
Code Compliance
Electrical Codes are the minimum standards of safety designed to protect people from shock, fire, and other hazards. When a pool’s electrical system meets code, it means the essential safeguards are in place. Code compliance is the baseline—not the ceiling—for a safe and reliable pool system.
Even the best-installed pool system won’t stay safe forever without regular upkeep. Time, weather, and corrosion wear down even the highest-quality components. That’s why ongoing maintenance is the key that ties everything together. Our SwimSafe Preventative Maintenance Program keeps your pool in top shape. Through regular inspections and tune-ups, we catch small issues before they become big problems, keeping your pool safe year after year. Plus, there are some great perks to being a SwimSafe member!
